Lisa answers:

Hi Carol, generally the endometriosis gets better during the pregnancy and breastfeeding. In the first period of pregnancy however, you may experience some pain (dependent on the ednometriosis pain you have experienced before you got pregnant), before your hormones kind of settle things down. Pregnancy by itself can be bit of discomfort but it depends on a woman, her life style, her all over health, psychological state etc. If you have suffered from endometriosis for a longer time, you should rather experience a relief while pregnant and breastfeeding and if you help it by adjusting your life style and diet, you may not get the disease back in the future.

Enjoy your day!

Pregnancy chances after endometriosis removal?

I recently had a laparoscopic surgery to remove endometriosis. I had it on both ovaries, but no where else. My doctor also did a chromopertubation & found that both my fallopian tubes are healthy & free of blockage. Prior to the surgery, I had been TTC 19 months. My doctor said I should be able to get pregnant, but that there are no guarantees. Then again, she told me that after 9 months of TTC and got my hopes up, which SUCKED when she labeled me “infertile”. =(

Have any of you gotten pregnant after having endometriosis?

Lisa answers:

Mandy, hypotetically right after the surgery you have higher chances to get pregnant as the endometriosis has just been removed (mostly). But first you need to recover from the endometriosis surgery – that usually takes about 6-8 weeks, if you really take it easy. The surgery is a shock for your organism, and it needs time to heal (stuff has been cut from you…). Dont rush it. You can support your recovery and attempts to get pregnant by using endometriosis natural treatment that has had great results for many women (including me). It does not go against anything you do with your doctor so that way you can do something extra for yourself and your future family.

Wish you good luck!

Please let me know because I think I might start BC.
I know BC stops Endo from spreading.

Lisa answers:

Hi Ruth, it is usually recommended by medical doctors to use BC pills when you have endometriosis as they help you to feel less pain during your menstruation. The other side of the coin is that with the BC pills you may just “cover” your symptoms for a while when your endo is silently developing anyway and once you stop the pills, you may have problems to get pregnant again. I was using the BC pills, then strong hormones to simulate menopauses and always after that, my endometriosis came back (before I found the final solution so I am fine now). However, if you are not planning to get pregnant right away, you can try taking the BC pills (good idea for that purpose: -) while you use other forces for your endometriosis cure. What helped me was a natural treatment and I cured completely. I would never go back to surgery or hormones, all the recovery and side effects were just too bad. If you are interested, you can check out a book by Shelly Ross, Treating Your Endometriosis, that explains in detail and step by step how to cure your endomteriosis naturally.

All the best!

Lisa answers:

Endometriosis goes dormant while pregnant. So any woman with endometriosis regardless of the severity of her condition, is not affected by the disease during the pregnancy. It is due to the hormonal process. You should be able to carry this child without any complications from it.

My gyno. thinks i have endometriosis. I have been on birth control continuously where i’m not supposed to take placebo pills. Both last month and this month i’ve bled anyway. This month has been almost a whole month of bleeding, but its light. For about the past week i’ve been eating constantly so it seems. I never get full, and for the past 2 days i have been urinating A LOT. I’m also gassy, but constapated. I feel like my stomach as a little bump but i don’t know if thats because of bloating. Does this sound like pregnancy symptoms, or my endometriosis?

Lisa answers:

Did you recently change birth control? If so it can take up to three months for your body to adjust during which time you can certainly have all the symptoms you have described. I definitely don’t think you are pregnant because you have been on the pill and have been spotting for almost a month. It sometimes takes several tries with different birth control pills before you find one that works for you. They all have slightly different hormone levels so one might work better then another. If you are still concerned though I would certainly recommend you talk your symptoms over with your doctor there may be a different birth control that would be better for you.
